Our schedule was well behind but we still managed to get to the historic district for a couple of short walks where our first was a lovely hill with a prospect of the historic district and beyond. After the Panama Canal we were at sea one day before we got to Manta, Ecuador where most of us who are doing the whole trip got off the boat to do a really quick trip to Quito. Our flight finally arrived: A Saab turbo-prop which sounded like it was the first ‘small’ plane some of the people had been in. Quito is a large city, with suburbs stretching for over 50 miles but it is in a narrow valley. We were the in the first group to go out but the ceiling was low and the plane couldn’t land in Manta so we got to visit the local museum which had some good artifacts from several eras along the coast plus some contemporary art that I enjoyed....

Not every album on this list will be anticipated by as many people as "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" by Nicki Minaj. OK, well, let's move on from reflecting to a look at 30 of the most anticipated albums of early 2012. But for Guided by Voices fans, the fact that "Let's Go Eat the Factory" is their first new album since 2004 is just as big a deal (if not a bigger one).
