David Clarkson scored a tip-in goal off Adam Henrique's shot 2:31 into the third period to break a tie and lift the Devils to a 3-2 victory over the Rangers that squared the series at one game apiece on Wednesday night. They stressed how important it would be to grab a 2-0 lead, which would have been their first two-game edge in this postseason, but didn't provide the necessary effort to get it done. The New Jersey Devils quickly changed the game plan: instead of letting the New York Rangers block their shots, they decided to deflect some themselves. " For the third straight series, the Rangers are wondering what went wrong in Game 2 after they took the opener. We would have liked to have snuck out of here with two wins, but it didn't happen. "It's a very hard building to play in, and 1-1 sounds much better than down 2-0," Devils captain Zach Parise said. It worked twice, and the Eastern Conference finals are all even, as a result. Goldilocks' outcome - not so large as to generate concern about the stability of the banking system, but high enough to reassure markets that banks were taking recapitalisation seriously. --> The take-up for the second part of the LTRO was ahead of that in December, which came in at &euro. It also widened its scope with 800 banks taking part. But the markets' reaction was more mixed, initially sending banking stocks higher, but then selectively selling out again. Not all banks revealed the extent of their use of the mechanism, but even the apparently strongest groups, such as HSBC, participated. 529bn , the second LTRO was deemed by one ING economist to have a &lsquo. The first round of LTRO was widely credited with creating sufficient confidence for the re-embracing of risk assets that has taken place since the beginning of the year. Read the rest of this entry »

Currency Revaluation ??
That is, if you and I swap billion-dollar contracts for interest rates that entirely cancel each other out except for a very narrow band where the total possible payout either to you or me might only be for one million dollars, this arrangement... The new currency will be used to peg all the other currencies, displacing the Dollar's current role as the de facto reserve currency. It will be coordinated worldwide (it has to be for it to work) and it will usher in a new worldwide reserve currency, similar to the SDR of the IMF . It is possible that gold may resume at least partly it's monetary role in this basket. One thing that is usually cited with respect to derivatives is that the notional amount is meaningless because it does not reflect the true amount that is at risk....

Quarterly Update
Even though the markets are off 20% and look very cheap on an earnings basis, there is still a lot more risk in this market and chances are the trend is still lower over the next several months. This is indicating that that while growth is stalling in North America and recession problems throughout Europe, China the great driver of commodities is stalling at the same time as well. It first showed up as a correction this spring in risk assets on the $TSX and other commodities markets. Even the luster of gold has been lost over the last month and has joined the broad based selling that has crept into all markets. What is significant, this is now an OFFICIAL BEAR MARKET. It has now entered into full blown BEAR territory on all markets....

Vengeance v Wolf
In fact, you could probably have sat a little further out than you did - if your missile range skills (Missile Bombardment and Missile Projection) are both at V, you can comfortably use CN rockets out to 8 km or so, which would have cut that much... Without time to look at his probable fit, I decided to stay at range, largely because I already had range on my side. Of course, that's why some Wolves use high tracking guns and tracking rigs. Wolves get a range bonus, but fighting in his falloff should still reduce his dps slightly. On the other hand, I could try getting under his guns, because Wolves have no tracking bonus. 3) Was I going to fight up close, or at range.
World War II has begun in our world (the Summer Country) which seems connected to the war in the Archipelago and chaos is breaking loose everywhere. It's like the boss battle at the end of a Japanese RPG game where you defeat it and then it goes ha ha ha and morphs into another form. Some new characters like Don Quixote join the Caretakers as they sail over the edge of the Archipelago to find an ancient sword that can defeat the Shadow energy. The Caretakers of the Imaginarium Geographica return to to go to war with a set of defectors who have joined forces with the Shadow of the Winter King. I found the plot hard to follow and I'm frankly bored of them fighting the same energy in different forms again and again. Only this is the fourth book now and it's like there no original ideas....

snuggy little kindle (for dummies)
Well, I read it in bed last night and decided that I need to read more 'for pleasure only' books. The newer book was not a fast read, but ultimately a rewarding one. I loved her first book, 26a , which was a fast if heart-tearing read. I can't think of anything to say about Evans' writing that doesn't sound canned, and she is most certainly not a canned sort of writer. PS speaking of paper books, in my effort to work my way through the TBR stack I finally got back to COLD MAGIC after, um, 6 months. The no-illumination problem stimulated me to finish paper books that I'd had lying around for far too long....
